Greetings All

A short break from memory work.

10 Ways to Soothe Your Aching Body, Mind and Soul

Take a nice warm bath. Lock the door for privacy

Add favorite bath oil, salts or sprigs of rosemary or lemon oil.

Play some of your favorite music

Have your favorite comfort food handy (Not too much!)

Candles create a relaxing food and aroma

Laugh, read a silly joke book.

Read Scriptures

Pray for others and be thankful for your own blessings

Do something nice for others.

Watch an old favorite movie and eat lots of buttered popcorn.

Memory

MEMORY

Did I forget anything today?

Gee, I don’t know. I can’t remember.

Most people want improve their memory and/or recall. We have all experiences that “senior moment” “brain freeze” “train derailment” how ever we describe our experience.

There really are some very simple ways to improve memory and recall. Our brain is such a wonderful device. Too bad we didn’t get an owner’s or operator’s manual with it. Well, in some ways we did. We just don’t know it yet. God also knew that we probably wouldn’t us it any way. Now be honest, how many of us really ruse the owner’s manual first?

Here is how to begin memory and recall improvement. First of all identify an affirmation or a quality you like about yourself and think about it 10 times through the day. If you forget during the day, repeat the affirmation 10 times before yo go to bed If you are fearful that you will forget, repeat the affirmation 10 times when you get up.

Practice, Practice and Practice. Make this a daily part of your life.

Now that you are learning to appreciate yourself and to clear your mind for a moment or two, it is time to begin the next step in improving memory and recall.

One of the most effective and efficient ways to improve memory and recall is to live in the here and now. Do not dwell on the past or worry about the future. Even God cannot change the past. The past is called the past for a reason – it is PAST. It is over. We can learn from it. Dwelling in it only gives life to something that needs to be buried. Dwelling on the past makes it impossible to live in the present and then we make more mistakes and forget even more.

Have a sense of the future and have goals and dreams, but live and be in the present. Again, it is called the present for a reason – right now is a Present. The present truly is a gift and we should all use it. The present is the only moment of power and control.

As we clear our mind and focus on the present, our mind will open to all that we need to remember or recall at that moment in time.

Clearing our mind is a very useful tool. Most of us have way too much clutter in our mind and in our lives. Think of nothing for about 20-30 seconds. This is difficult if you are use to clearing and quieting the mind.
An easy way to begin to do this is to focus on your breathing. Most people are in stress shallow breathing.

Part of staying in the present is to stop the endless chatter otherwise known as self talk. Most of the time it is negative any way and only serves to distract us from what we need to focus on. Most self talk is more critical than helpful. Most self talk is about the past which we cannot change and keeps us from living in the present

Like the law of physics – only one object can occupy a space at the one time – you brain can only think about one thing at a time. When you try to do two or three or more things at the same time what you are actually doing is starting and stopping doing each of those things multiple times. Time is actually wasted in those moments spent switching your focus.

More Memory

Greetings All:

Last week I posted about improving memory. Hope you all took the challenge and worked on relaxing and clearning your mind.

One of most effective ways to improve memory is to focus on the here and now. Do not dwell on the past. Have a sense of the future and have some goals and dreams, but live in the present. The present is truly a gift and we should all use it. When we clear our mind and then foucs on the present, our mind will open to all that we need to remember.

Food for the Soul
